राज्य » अन्य राज्यPosted at: Oct 16 2020 7:46PM Customs seize drugs worth Rs 79 lakhs concealed in a Gas stoveBengaluru, Oct 16 (UNI) The Customs officials at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) here have seized Rs 79 lakh worth ‘Ephedrine’ concealed in a gas stove.बेंगलुरु, 16 अक्टूबर (वार्ता) कस्टम अधिकारियों ने यहां केम्पेगाेड़ा अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे पर गुरुवार देर रात को गैस स्टोव में छिपाकर ले जाये जा रहे 79 लाख रुपये कीमत वाले मादक पदार्थ को जब्त किया। कस्टम विभाग के अधिकारियों ने यहां शुक्रवार को एक बयान में कहा '' स्टील गैस स्टोव की एक खेप पकड़ी गयी है, जिसे ऑस्ट्रेलिया भेजा जाना था। गैस स्टोव के चार पैरों में 1983 ग्राम मादक पदार्थ ' एफेड्रिन ' छिपाया गया था। एक धातु काटने के मशीन उपकरण के उपयोग से इसे काटना पड़ा। मादक पदार्थ बड़ी सफाई से प्लास्टिक के रैपर में पैक कर पाइपों के खोखले भागों में रखा गया था। पाइपों के दोनों छोरों पर वेल्डिंग की गयी थी, जिससे कोई भी आसानी से स्टोव को बाहर से देखकर किसी चीज का पता नहीं लगा सकता था। ''उल्लेखनीय है कि अक्सर खिलाड़ियों, विशेष रूप से वेटलिफ्टर्स द्वारा ' एफेड्रिन ' ड्रग का दुरुपयोग किया जाता है। सं वार्ता The seizure was made in the exports division on Thursday late night.According to a statement by the Customs here on Friday they intercepted a consignment of steel gas stove, which was destined to Australia.“As much as 1,983 grams of Ephedrine were concealed in four legs of the gas stove. We had to cut it open using a metal cutting machine tool,” the statement stated.The drug was neatly packed in plastic wrappers and placed in a hollow section of the pipes. The pipes were welded from both the ends and no one could easily detect or suspect anything from the outer look of the stove.Ephedrine is often abused by sports players, especially weightlifters, college students, the fashion industry and even truck drivers are known to abuse the substance because of the performance enhancing effect of the drug.People who are wanting to lose weight, often use and abuse Ephedrine because of its association with weight loss, especially this is a big hit among the modelling and the film industry worldover.UNI BSP MSP ASN 1732
